Well hello there, I haven’t seen you in a while. Come right in, take your coat off, and grab a seat. We have some catching up to do. It amazes me in this day and age, that with all the tools available to us: to stay in touch with one another, to bridge the gaps of geography, to instantly connect to someone with the touch of a screen while in: a car, a park, or the bathroom; that we still can’t reach out to those whom we care about as much as we would like.

I feel as if we’ve moved away from connecting with one another, and instead turned our intentions (however unintentionally) towards competition. We don’t really “catch up” anymore. Instead we find ourselves behind keyboards and backlit screens scheming up clever one-liners and hunting down and commenting on, the most outrageous viral video or captioned snapshot that we can find. We’ve made “being interesting” a competitive sport. It’s no longer sufficient for us enjoy what we enjoy, and be happy for others who enjoy what they enjoy. We now have to defend and promote that which we enjoy so that our object of enjoyment is more interesting than anyone else’s.

Don’t get me wrong, Facebook, Twitter, and the rest, have their places (who doesn’t need a good honey badger video from time to time?), however it seems to me that a lot of genuine connections get lost amidst the unrelenting noise.

All that being said, I’ve put this site together as a means to connect with folks in a more authentic manner. I’ll continue to stay in the game by posting links to all my other online identities. However, I will always prefer to meet up in the real world. Let’s make an effort to make that happen more often.
